It’s been 30 years since the first series of the beloved Nineties sitcom Fresh Prince of Bel-Air first appeared on our screens, and star Will Smith has reunited with his cast members to celebrate.
Will Smith, 51, celebrated the 30th anniversary of the series with photos teasing the sitcom’s upcoming HBO Max reunion special. In his post, the Bad Boys star surprised fans with a grinning picture alongside the show’s original Aunt Viv, Hubert.
He captioned his photo, “Today is exactly 30 YEARS since The @FreshPrince of Bel-Air debuted! So we’re doin’ something for y’all… a for real Banks Family Reunion is comin’ soon to @HBOmax!”
He added, “RIP James” in acknowledgment of James Avery – played Uncle Phil – who sadly passed away in 2013 aged 68.
The second photo in his post showed Smith and Janet Hubert side by side, the 64 years old actress was the original Aunt Viv, she left the Sitcom at the end of its third season in 1993, due to an ongoing feud with Smith.
A date for the televised reunion has not yet been provided, but reports suggest that it will be in November around Thanksgiving, and it will air on the US streaming service HBO Max.
Smith, who will act as an executive producer, said he would be flexible about his involvement with the new, hourlong show, although Peacock’s announcement said nothing about whether he would appear or not.
“I am excited and I am here to be as involved or as all the way out your way, as you guys need me to be,” he announced on his YouTube channel.
